Here is my draft double spread page, it is of my actual artist that is featured in my magazine but the image is not the one I will be using on my final double spread page, Ive just put it in that place to show where i want the image. I have wrote the actual article that will be on my final double spread page and the title, Im not sure about the Image in the bottom right side of the page, I mite keep it there but Im not sure at the moment.

Draft content page :D

Here is a draft version of my content page, it just has a title, a main image, text and a background which is the same as my draft front cover. I have put these images and texts in just to position where i will want my actual image and text. I have also just added an effect to the picture to make the page seem more professional, I think i will do the same thing to my actual image on my course work content page.

Here is my draft front cover, with only the magazine title, a secondary title and skyline. the main image of a rapper called drake whos picture i got off google images just to show where i want my main image to be on my actual front cover, I've made the background silver with a light faded line going down the middle just to add attention to the main image. I added an effect to the main image to give it a more professional effect. but this is just the first step of my front cover.

 This hip hop content p colours age is about what is featured in the magazine. The largest title says ''FEATURES'' in capital letters making the aim of the page clear, the title is also in the colour white to make it stand out more and this is a god way to get attention because the background colour is a dark orange colour. The main image is of a man wearing a orange sweater which contrasts well with the background, there are about three on this page that work well together because they are all bright warm colours.

J.Cole content page

This hip-hop content page belongs to spin magazine. I will start by talking about the main image which is located in the centre of the page, the picture is of J. Cole an up coming rapper that the hip-hop world have become greatly interested in so the magazine ''spin'' has done an article on the rapper. the main image is in the very middle of the page to show who exactly the article is about and showing that he is the centre of attention. just above the main image is a bright yellow pug saying ''album out'' in a small font size to the other two words which are ''This Spring''. The bright colour attracts attention and the small piece of information makes it easy to read and it simply lets the audience know when his album is coming out which promotes the artist and this could potentially create a lasting relationship between the artist and the magazine which is good for business.

The main title is in a very bold font to make the text stand out also the font is the largest on the entire page which gives the main image a name, its says ''J.Cole''. Beneath the the main title there is another large piece of font but not as big or as bold as the main title showing that it is not as Important and doesn't need to stand out as much but still is importances. The rest of the text on the page is in small font and in black making it basic but easy to read. Some of the more important words and quotes and in a very bold font highlight what is going on in that particular paragraph. The background is plain white to make the pug and bold are easier to spot and to make the font easier to read.

Double spread page analysis

  

Here is a double spread page of a music magazine, the main heading says ‘‘people think I’m an attention seeker, but I’m just honest.’’ The text is in a huge font size and a strange and interesting font style to attract attention, which makes the text itself seem to be lies and this creates a humorous effect which makes the article that is just underneath the title seem interesting to read. The main image fills up almost half of the page to state the importance of the person, she is wearing a normal shirt but the colour is red and the rest of the page is black which makes her stand out and seem loud and the centre of attention. The article is in the bottom left page in a very small font, it is in a basic style font so the information is easy to read. I think that the target audience are teenagers from the ages of 14-19, I believe this because of the kind of clothing the main image is wearing, her hairstyle and also the font style, it’s like she is saying it with attitude and attitude is associated with teenagers. 

 I will start with the main image; it is of a new up coming rapper who has become very popular lately on the hip-hop scene and people want to find out more about the new young rapper on the scene. The source magazine has recognized these and has decided to put him on the front cover to sell more magazines. He is dressed in all black clothing to signify hip-hop culture, which is dark and raw. The image is placed in the middle of the page showing that he is the centre of attention.

He looks relaxed and laid back showing that even though he is on the front cover of a magazine and is now famous it is clearly not affecting him, many people admire this and even if they don’t know who he is then with him looking cool and calm may want the people to find out about him by buying and reading about it in the magazine.

The title is covered a little by the main image, which states that the magazine is well known and don’t need to show the entire name. The font is a large size and is bold with the colour green which shows that the magazine is aimed at a male target audience. In the word source, in the middle of the letter ‘‘O’’ is a fist holding a microphone which shows that the magazine is powerful influence in the music world, with the fist signifying power and the microphone signifying music. Just under there is an issue number of the magazines that says ‘‘NO.238’’ this is there to show the success of the magazine and that it is on its 238^th issue.

The texts around the main image are mostly names, events and sales. The ones that are highlighted in yellow are to add an interesting effect with the colour of the background which is a mixture of yellow and green which contrast well together and to make clear the most popular ones. The front cover also has the name of its website on the bottom so any customers that may not be able to afford the magazine at the time they will be able to visit the website which will make the magazine more known.

 I will start with the main image on the cover. The rap artist Nas is placed in mainly in the middle of the page with his shirt off wearing only jeans with a belt, watch and chains around his neck, He is shown like this to appeal to women because he isn't wearing much clothing so they will most likely find this attractive. Also it may appeal to people that listen to Nas's music or just hip hop music, and to men that live a life filled with fighting or grew up in rough areas. So the main image will be one of the main aspects to make people want to buy this magazine, which is the main goal.

 He is stood in a fighting pose looking straight into the camera, which makes it seem like he is staring right into the eyes of the viewer. The main image’s head covers the name of the magazine; this shows that the magazine label is well known because the title doesn’t need to be shown on the front cover.

The pug which says ‘’HIP-HOPS 100 BIGGEST MOMENTS the post pac and biggie era’’ all the letters are in capitals which shows the importance of the information that is being given. The actual words say what is inside of the magazine and the target audience will be people that like hip-hop music, information est. so this will catch peoples eye and make them want to purchase the magazine.

The kicker has the name of the main image with is the biggest font size on the entire front page showing its superiority, it is shown across his abdomen just under his fists covering his stomach, which is weak area if he was to be hit there but with his name being there its like his name which is known around the world and this is protecting him as it seems like he is in fighting mode. The kicker also has a quote either from Nas or about Nas which is also in capital letters saying ‘‘THEY HAD TO EXPECT THE LEAST A N***A LIKE NAS COULD DO WAS MAKE AN ALBUM CALLED N****R’’. The words that were used and the way they was said shows that this man is tough and doesn’t care what anyone thinks, and in the audience that the publishers are targeting will have lots of respect for the artist because of his attitude and because this person is on the front cover the magazine will get this same kind of respect also. Just above the kickers largest font size it says in an unusual label, font style and colour of the letters, which are black, and in capitals to make it stand out and show its importants is says ‘‘REBEL TO AMERICA’’ then the main image’s name, which brings be on to my next point, the background. The background is showing the American flag. The colours of the flag which are white, red and blue alone are bold and proud which is what the magazine wants to promote and make the readers feel proud of the country but the colours also give the same impression of the magazine. Also the picture of Nas standing in front of the American flag which is like he is either protecting it or fighting against it and either way its is very dramatic, this is the effect that needs to be created if the magazine is going to continue to be successful.

The strap line says ‘’100^th ISSUE SPECTACULAR’’ then it has 10 of the biggest names in hip-hop who are being featured in the magazine so if the person who is the main Image on the cover doesn’t appeal to the audience then it is more then likely then one of the other artists that are featured will make you want to read about them and so having to buy the magazine.

From what is being shown on the cover I believe that the target audience are predominantly black males and females from the ages from 15 to 30. My reasons for black music artists and people of the same ethnicities mostly perform this Because of the genre of music often have these music artists as role models and have things in common so they would follow the people that are featured in the magazine and the publishers know this and that’s why they put these people on the front cover, to sell magazines. 

Preliminary Task - Inside page

There is no main image on this page, just a secondary images. The reason for this is that I wanted to have information on this page about the courses and basketball academy, i've put the the background as purple and the text as yellow to make the text stand out better and make it easier to read. but the basketball academy text is in white, i put that text in that colour to make the basketball team stand out and that they are different, but i really should have kept it in the same colour as the rest of the text because the background colour fades to white at the bottom so the text is more difficult to read. The pictures are of life in school, mainly drama and basketball which are interesting subjects and may make people want to join one of these groups because they look fun and exciting. The secondary titles and the text are the same colours to make the to pieces of information stand apart because they are two completely different information.

Preliminary Task - Front cover

The main image was a picture of me holding a basketball   because the  kicker is called ''basketball edition'' and this is a main issue in this magazine thats why it is the main image. I put the kicker front in capital letters to show the importance of the text and add more meaning to the picture. The Name of the school is the main title just to imprint the schools logo and name on the front seen as it is the schools magazine as well. also if somebody who doesn't go to the school and finds the information in the magazine interesting they know the origin of the magazine. I could improve the front cover by putting information of how to contact the school on the front cover to make it easier to get in touch with the school. I think i have used too many colours on the front cover, theres about 4 colours on the front which clash and make the cover look less professional. I've put the secondary images are of real pupils that attend the school to add realism to the magazine and create a sense of real school life. The information in the strap-lines are about what is inside of the magazine, I have put a yellow background behind the text to make it stand out more.
